I believe at one of the winter olympics a snow boarder failed a drugs test because of cannabis.  I think he got away with it because he said he was at a party with friends who were smoking it, and the levels in his body supported that.

I've never tried it, but I assume it would increase you tolerance to pain (given that it is legal in some countries for medicinal use).

And for dancers it would probably put a permanent "real" smile on their face... definitely an unfair advantage over the faked plastic smiles.  *HAHAHA*

"Thank you for making me smile and LAUGH - but no cannabis

Once I asked very high IDSF official "Can I drink this" - a drink sold in super market and got answer "I do not know"  If officials do not know how can they want the couples to know?. "

Good, point. I always did feel creepy about drinking an energy drink at a competition...which IS performance (and urine) enhancing...kind of. Anyways, are they or are they not alllowed? Does anyone know? My partner said that there is no problem since the acting ingredient is natural (Ginseng or caffeine), but pot is natural too..

Phermetrazine, Subutramine and other drugs in the "speed"  family  increase alertness & focus, they speed up metabolism, heart reate, cause periferal vasodilation, resulting in unpleasant sweaty feeling.

But, if you suffer jet-leg,  are tired,  cannot keep eyes open and are ready to drop dead,  after an hour of taking the drug you are up, and hopping,  feeling alert and able to do anything - you also do not feel hunger,  a reason why some doctors prescribed same for weight -loss.

Many university students may take these drugs after studying nights for exams,  many workers working midnight shift take the drug to help them stay alert.

Increased alertness, metabolism, feeling of self awareness and ability to focus,   evethough experiencing palpitations and sweaty like feelings from the uncontrlable hyperactivity  certainly have performance inhancing  properties,  and would  give an otherwise tired dancer an extra boost...

These drugs do not make you dance better,  but would  just perk you up and keep you  feeling energetic when you need it.

What  actions has  antidoping commission taken ?

This is the worst possible timing in light of Dominico and Gioia turning Professionals, leaving the "throne" open to  Edita  and Arunas.

RE: All tests are reported negative by the laboratory. Congratulations to the athletes tested.

?????  Are you serious ?????

Congratulating  dancers for not taking illegal drugs ?  Congratulating  for not cheating, for not hurting our sport by obtaining unfair advanantage over 'clean ' sportsmen/sporstwomen.

If  you  named me,  I'd be offended !

What next, perhaps we should congratulation ourselves for not stealing, murdering, breaking Ten  Commandments ?

Acknowledging negative testing  is fine  but congratulating goes too far ...

haven't heard about or seen any anti-doping testing at the big 3 English competitions (UK Open, Blackpool, International)... can somebody confirm or deny if there is any?

All competitions in the UK are run under British Dance Councul Rules and NOT IDSF. For this reason there are no tests at all.  For same reason any IDSF bans do not apply in Great Britain.

Never having tried ay form of drug I have no knowledge of their effects but it sems to me that anything which "Stimulates" could be harmful within any event where control, calm, balance elegance are all important.  Of course for many dance "athletes"  these qualities are unimportant.

IDSF website Carlos Freitag states they are meeting to decide.

I just feel little uneasy that this result came from an event in Germany.

I also think that we should not judge and convict without facts.  Many banned sport stars have later been cleared,.

Maybe the Professional field will be strengthened by a Lithuanian couple very soon.

It is in IDSF Rules that an Adjudicator cannot drink alcohol and that includes the Chairman. I have never herd of even one single Adjudicator being tested.  Perhaps they are afraid they would qickly run out of Adjudicators..
